8. EXPOSURE CONTROLS / PERSONAL PROTECTION
Exposure Standards

No exposure standards are available for this product, however, the following exposure standards have been assigned by
[NOHSC] to the following components of the product.

METHYL ETHYL KETONE
[NOHSC]

Notices: H

Engineering Controls
Highly flammable liquid. Maintain adequate ventilation at all times. Prevent accumulation of vapours in hollows or
sumps. Eliminate any sources of ignition. Elevated temperature or mechanical action may form vapours, mists or fumes
which may require local exhaust ventilation systems.

Personal Protection Equipment
GLOVES: If product has spilt, or package is broken, then the use of neoprene gloves is recommended.
EYES: Chemical goggles or spectacles with side shields to protect eyes.
RESPIRATORY PROTECTION: Avoid breathing of vapours. Select and use respirators in accordance with AS/NZS
1715/1716. When gases exceed the exposure standards then the use of a half-face respirator fitted with an organic
vapour cartridge is recommended. For high concentration use an atmosphere-supplied, positive pressure demand self-
contained or airline breathing apparatus, complying with the requirements of AS/NZS 1715 is recommended. Filter
capacity and respirator type depends on exposure levels and type of contaminant. If entering spaces where the airborne
concentration of a contaminant is unknown then the use of a Self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA) with positive
pressure air supply complying with AS/NZS 1715 / 1716, or any other acceptable International Standard is
recommended.

11. TOXICOLOGICAL INFORMATION (Continued)
Oral LD50(rat): 2,737 mg/kg
Dermal LD50(rabbit): 6,480 mg/kg
Inhalation LC50(rat): 23500 mg/m3/8H

Xylene:

Oral LD50(rat): 4,300 mg/kg
Dermal LD50(rabbit): >1,700 mg/kg
Inhalation LC50(rat): 5,000 ppm/4H

Diacetone alcohol:

Oral LD50(rat): 4,000 mg/kg

EPOXY RESINS:

Epoxy resins can irritate the skin, eyes, and respiratory tract. However, acute toxicity is generally low.
Generally the toxicity of an epoxy resin decreases with increasing molecular weight of the polymer. Exposure to cured
resin dust from sanding, grinding, or hammering operations will irritate the eyes, skin, and respiratory tract from
frictional action.

Many epoxy resin products are SENSITIZERS and can cause either allergic contact dermatitis, occupational asthma, or
both. Epoxy resins, especially those based on BISPHENOL A, are among the most common causes of occupational
allergic contact dermatitis.
Sensitizing potency is a function of both chemical composition and molecular weight. The most potent sensitizers are
those with molecular weight less than 500.
Other symptoms of chronic exposure include burning of the eyes, blistering of the hands and face, coughing, irritation
of the upper respiratory tract, and increased nasal secretions.

Oral LD50(rat): > 5,000 mg/kg
