7. HANDLING AND STORAGE
Precautions for Safe Handling:
Highly flammable liquid. Avoid ignition sources. Do not get in eyes. Avoid direct or prolonged contact with skin.
Provide adequate ventilation.

Conditions for Safe Storage:
Keep containers tightly closed, when not using the product. Store in original packages as approved by manufacturer.
Store in an area that is dry and well-ventilation away from ignition sources. Store below 278 C. The floor of the depot
should be impermeable. Store away from strong alkalis, acids and oxidizing agents. For further information please refer
to the Engineering Controls of this MSDS.

8. EXPOSURE CONTROLS / PERSONAL PROTECTION
Exposure Standards

No exposure standards are available for this product, however, the following exposure standards have been assigned by
the National Occupational Health & Safety Commission (NOHSC) to the following component of the product:

TETRAHYDROFURAN
[NOHSC]
3
[TWA]100 ppm 295 mg/m

Notices: Sk

Sk Notation:
The main route of most hazardous substances into the body is via inhalation, however, certain substances such as
ethylene glycol monoethyl ether can readily penetrate the skin, with resultant toxic effects. The notice 'Sk' indicates that
absorption can occur through the skin.

METHYL ETHYL KETONE
[NOHSC]
3
[TWA]150 ppm 445 mg/m
3
[STEL]300 ppm 890 mg/m

Notices: A

Engineering Controls
Highly flammable liquid. Maintain adequate ventilation at all times. Prevent accumulation of vapours in hollows or
sumps. Eliminate any sources of ignition. Elevated temperature or mechanical action may form vapours, mists or fumes
which may require local exhaust ventilation systems.

Personal Protection Equipment
GLOVES: Not normally required, however, if product has spilt, or package is broken, then the use of neoprene gloves
is recommended.
EYES : Chemical goggles or spectacles to protect eyes.
RESPIRATORY PROTECTION: Avoid breathing of vapours. Select and use respirators in accordance with AS/NZS
1715/1716. When vapours exceed the exposure standards then the use of a half-face respirator fitted with an organic
vapour cartridge is recommended. For high concentration use an atmosphere-supplied, positive pressure demand self-
contained or airline breathing apparatus, complying with the requirements of AS/NZS 1715 is recommended. Filter
capacity and respirator type depends on exposure levels and type of contaminant.

11. TOXICOLOGICAL INFORMATION (Continued)
TETRAHYDROFURAN:

Oral LD50(rat): > 2,000 mg/kg
Inhalation LC50(rat): 21000 ppm/3H

Methyl Ethyl Ketone:

Oral LD50(rat): 2,737 mg/kg
Dermal LD50(rabbit): 6,480 mg/kg
3
Inhalation LC50(rat): 23500 mg/m /8H

EPOXY RESINS (BISPHENOL F):

Epoxy resins can irritate the skin, eyes, and respiratory tract. However, acute toxicity is generally low.
Generally the toxicity of an epoxy resin decreases with increasing molecular weight of the polymer. Exposure to cured
resin dust from sanding, grinding, or hammering operations will irritate the eyes, skin, and respiratory tract from
frictional action.

Many epoxy resin products are SENSITIZERS and can cause either allergic contact dermatitis, occupational asthma, or
both. Epoxy resins, such as BISPHENOL F, are among the most common causes of occupational allergic contact
dermatitis.
Sensitizing potency is a function of both chemical composition and molecular weight. The most potent sensitizers are
those with molecular weight less than 500.
Other symptoms of chronic exposure include burning of the eyes, blistering of the hands and face, coughing, irritation
of the upper respiratory tract, and increased nasal secretions.

Oral LD50(rat): > 4,000 mg/kg
Dermal LD50(rabbit): > 2,000 mg/kg

12. ECOLOGICAL INFORMATION
Ecotoxity:
The Methyl ethyl ketone and the tetrahydrofuran components of this product are anticipated to have a high volatility
and that biodegradability will occur. The bisphenol F epoxy resin is anticipated to persist in the environment.

13. DISPOSAL CONSIDERATIONS
Refer to appropriate authority in your State. Dispose of material through a licensed waste contractor. Advise flammable
nature.
