8. EXPOSURE CONTROLS / PERSONAL PROTECTION
Exposure Standards

No exposure standards are available for this product, however, the following exposure standards have been assigned by
[NOHSC] to the following components of the product:

BIS PHENOL F EPOXY
[NOHSC]
No exposure standards.

Notices: Sen

Sen Notation:
Some substances can cause a specific immune response in some people. Such substances are called sensitisers and the
development of a specific immune response is termed 'sensitisation'. Exposure to a sensitiser, once sensitisation has
occurred, may manifest itself as a skin rash or inflammation or as an asthmatic condition, in many situations, only a
small dose which may be far below a TWA or STEL, in some susceptible individuals this may trigger violent and
severe adverse reactions.

Engineering Controls
Maintain adequate ventilation at all times. Depending upon application of this product and the likelihood of exposure,
the use of a local exhaust ventilation system would be recommended.

Personal Protection Equipment
GLOVES: The use of neoprene or nitrile is recommended.
EYES: Chemical goggles or faceshield to protect eyes.
RESPIRATORY PROTECTION: Avoid breathing of mists. Select and use respirators in accordance with AS/NZS
1715/1716. The use of a dust mask (disposable) or a half-face respirator with P1 filter is recommended. Filter capacity
and respirator type depends on exposure levels and type of contaminant. If entering spaces where the airborne
concentration of a contaminant is unknown then the use of a Self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA) with positive
pressure air supply complying with AS/NZS 1715 / 1716, or any other acceptable International Standard is
recommended.

11. TOXICOLOGICAL INFORMATION (Continued)
EPOXY RESINS:

Epoxy resins can irritate the skin, eyes, and respiratory tract. However, acute toxicity is generally low.
Generally the toxicity of an epoxy resin decreases with increasing molecular weight of the polymer. Exposure to cured
resin dust from sanding, grinding, or hammering operations will irritate the eyes, skin, and respiratory tract from
frictional action.

Many epoxy resin products are SENSITIZERS and can cause either allergic contact dermatitis , occupational asthma, or
both. Epoxy resins, especially those based on BISPHENOL A-EPICHLORHYDRIN, are among the most common
causes of occupational allergic contact dermatitis.
Sensitizing potency is a function of both chemical composition and molecular weight. The most potent sensitizers are
those with molecular weight less than 500.
Other symptoms of chronic exposure include burning of the eyes, blistering of the hands and face, coughing, irritation
of the upper respiratory tract, and increased nasal secretions.

Crystalline Silica - Quartz:

Exposure to respirable crystalline silica may cause delayed (chronic) lung disease known as silicosis; Acute or rapidly
developing silicosis may occur in a period of time in heavy exposure in certain occupations such as sandblasting,
quarrying or mining. The onset may increase with heavy smoking or poor hygiene.

The International Agency for the Research of Cancer (IARC) enabled a Working Group who reported that there is
sufficient evidence for the classification of crystalline silica as a Confirmed Human Carcinogen (Group I) (IARC,
1997,V.68).

In line with the IARC decision, Worksafe Australia has attempted to classify ALL forms of crystalline silica as
CONFIRMED HUMAN CARCINOGEN (CATEGORY 1). Established human carcinogens are those substances
known to be carcinogenic to humans. There is sufficient evidence to establish a casual association between human
exposure to these substances and the development of cancer.

12. ECOLOGICAL INFORMATION
